Things to Do in Destin Florida for Couples

jlentz24

Destin Florida is a fantastic destination for couples, offering a mix of adventure, relaxation and even romantic activities. Even if your couple is just a few of your best friends, there are many things to do in Destin that might be off the beaten path. Here are 10 of the top things to do on your next trip to Destin:

10 things to do in Destin Fl for couples

Bowling at Uncle Buck's Fish Bowl

The Destin Commons isn’t just for shopping. Head to Bass Pro and Uncle Bucks for some bowling in an ocean experience. They offer custom bowling balls that look like octopus, mermaids and more. There are hand painted murals to bring life to the underwater scenery. Lanes are $45 per hour for up to 8 people and food is available. Socks and shoes are also available for rent. There can often be a crowd, so put your name down and then do a little window shopping through the Commons while you wait.

Floating Tiki Bar to Crab Island

This is one of best things to do if you want to get out on the water. We have done this multiple times and often when guests are in town. Jump on a floating tiki bar to Crab Island on the original cruisin’ bar for an afternoon in the sun. Bring your own drinks and snacks aboard and relax in a small group (up to 6 people). If you are looking for a romantic experience, they also offer private tours. Swim, snorkel, visit one of the many floating restaurants, or just relax and soak up the celebratory vibes. If you are traveling in the colder months, check out this shorter tour that takes you throughout the harbor to Crab Island without swimming.

Teppanyaki at Osaka

Who doesn’t love dinner and a show? One of our favorite spots in Destin away from the beachside restaurants is Osaka. Enjoy fresh seafood and sushi at the authentic Japanese hibachi tables serving organic local produce and Gulf fresh seafood. Open daily for lunch or dinner, this is a great spot for couples in Destin, Florida looking for a fun date night or a new dining experience.

Take a Sunset Dolphin Cruise

I know this sounds like a touristy thing to do, and it is! But it’s also dolphins… at sunset. What could be more romantic or fun!? If you are looking for a smaller craft (with max of 14 passengers) then check out this Sunset Dolphin Cruise from the Destin Harbor. If you are trying to maximize your budget and don’t worry about larger crowds, then save money with this tour.

Dueling Piano Bar at Rum Runners in the Village of Baytowne Wharf

Have you ever been to a dueling piano bar? Rum Runners offers amazing music every evening (though I have to admit the food isn’t amazing, so eat before) and simply enjoy some cocktails and a good time. The music usually starts at 7 pm and remember to bring cash for any song requests. On the weekends, this spot fills up, but The Village of Baytowne Wharf is a great area to wander around if you need to wait, making this a perfect activity for couples in Destin.

Fondue at Melting Pot

This is an oldie but a goodie. The classic Melting Pot should make its way on your list of activities in Destin because they offer an amazing happy hour. From 4-6 pm daily (except Saturdays) enjoy half price chocolate and cheese fondues at the bar with cocktail specials. Choose from 4 different cheese options, as well as 4 different chocolate pots for $14 each, as well as wines starting at $6 and cocktails starting at $8. If you are looking for a cheaper date night, head to Melting Pot early for a little fondue and cocktails.

Magic Show at the Harborwalk Theatre

Head down to the Harborwalk Theatre and watch Destin’s Maximum Magic Show with Noah and Heather Wells. They perform illusions, tell jokes, play mind tricks, and more—audience participation keeps you on your toes. It’s a nice change of pace from the beach and provides great evening entertainment. It’s kid friendly too in case you decide to bring the whole family. There are many restaurants around Harborwalk Village for a bite to eat after. Note: Parking is paid and can be limited in the summer, so plan ahead for additional time.

Local Craft Beer at the Destin Brewery

If you are looking for a local’s spot without the chaos of all the tourists, head to the Destin Brewery on Mountain Drive, at the intersection of Melvin. Opened in 2015, this brewery offers locally crafted beers from pilsners to IPAs and even some gluten free options. The Deck at Destin Brewery, their restaurant service, offers pizzas, hot dogs and even ceviche on the weekends. You can also grab some beers to go, so stop by for an afternoon after the beach for a local’s gem.

Aerial Views on a Destin Helicopter Tour

When Timberview Helicopters first opened on Hwy. 98, I couldn’t have imagined how popular they would become. Two helicopters take groups all day long on tours throughout sunset. Hop on a helicopter for some amazing aerial views, with tours starting at $59. Up to 4 passengers per flight, but couples celebrating a special occasion or wanting an exclusive tour can select "Private Flight" at checkout to reserve the entire cabin.

Golfing Together

Destin offers several beautiful golf courses and resorts for couples looking to enjoy the sport together or simply try something new. There are many options throughout the Florida Panhandle, but I’ll highlight two for non-members. The Regatta Bay Golf & Yacht Club is known for its beautiful scenery and challenging course; they offer 18 holes surrounded by nature reserves and lakes. It’s ideal for a romantic golf outing with stunning views and the clubhouse even offers dining options for a post-game meal. If your time and money is short, head to Seascape Golf Resort. Here you can play nine holes and often find a deal on tee times.

Destin provides the perfect backdrop for couples (or even groups of friends) looking to create lasting memories together. These 10 activities blend outdoor adventure and romantic dining for different experiences away from the beach.

About the Author

Hi, I’m Jordan. I’m originally from Destin, Florida, but have lived in Nashville, TN for 10 years. I started this blog in 2022 when I left my career in finance to take an adult gap year… yep, that’s right at 35 years old! Since then I have traveled to 65+ countries, most of the time solo. I lived in China for 4 years and have backpacked around the world. I like to stretch my budget for things like good meals and scuba diving, but ultimately the local experience is what drives me to explore. I love meeting new people and learning about other cultures, traditions and life lessons. Thanks for being here!
