Are you doing this before your grocery shopping?

Updated: Jul 2

Have you seen eggs go from $2/dozen to $4?! Inflation is here and permeates every aspect of our lives. If your grocery budget isn’t going as far as it used to, here’s a quick and easy idea to save money … all while watching TV!

Couponing!

Now before you think of your grandmother sitting in her recliner on a Sunday afternoon clipping coupons from the newspaper, welcome to couponing in 2022 - online clipping!

Most grocers offer an app and loyalty points. Whether you shop at Publix, Kroger, Harris Teeter or Albertson, download your favorite grocer’s app and get started!

While watching TV, scroll through the apps coupon/savings section to add your favorite items to your card. It’s that simple! The next time you shop, your coupons will automatically be deducted from your account. The savings add up!

I’m a Kroger shopper, so here is their app!

While I watch TV, I just “clip, clip, clip” coupons of items I buy often. Then when I do my shopping, I don’t even have to think about the savings. This year I have saved $144 to date! Kroger also has a fuel points program that adds to the savings! For every dollar spent, you earn 1 fuel point. 100 fuel points = $0.10 off/gallon at their Kroger fuel stations. They offer bonus earning days as well as an extra 50 fuel points for completing their online feedback surveys based on your shopping experience. These rewards really add up as gas prices creep back up.

Adding coupons to your loyalty account online is an easy (almost mindless) way to save money at the store! Download your grocer’s app and start clipping today.

Note: Kroger has a 150-coupon max for each account at any time.

About the Author

Hi, I’m Jordan. I’m originally from Destin, Florida, but have lived in Nashville, TN for 10 years. I started this blog in 2022 when I left my career in finance to take an adult gap year… yep, that’s right at 35 years old! Since then I have traveled to 65+ countries, most of the time solo. I lived in China for 4 years and have backpacked around the world. I like to stretch my budget for things like good meals and scuba diving, but ultimately the local experience is what drives me to explore. I love meeting new people and learning about other cultures, traditions and life lessons. Thanks for being here!
