Updated: Jul 8

I absolutely loved my time in Hoi An and Da Nang Vietnam. There are so many fun activities, friendly people and beautiful views almost everywhere you turn. If you are looking for an itinerary, check out my tips for things to do from Da Nang to Hoi An. To keep you full, check out these best restaurants and coffee shops while you are in Hoi An (and Da Nang).

Best Places to Eat in Hoi An

This restaurant is absolutely amazing! They have several locations, and I visited both their Original and Signature locations. The menus are slightly different, which gives you options when you visit them both (though the menus are so extensive I believe you would need several visits to crack the surface).  The service is wonderful and the English menu helpful. They accept credit cards and offer a discount on future visits if you keep your receipt. This establishment is certainly more expensive than what you find on the street, but the beautiful ambience and wonderful service make it a nice treat when you visit Hoi An.

If you are looking to get a little work done with a great view, check out HeyDay Coffee, the upstairs is a wonderful coworking spot. If you’re lucky enough to grab a spot on the balcony, you can enjoy the lake views.

If you are looking for the most popular Vietnamese dish outside of Vietnam, look no further than Pho Xua for their flavorful bowls of pho. The reviews on TripAdvisor speak for themselves, but I loved the rich broth and thinly sliced beef. They also offer a wide array of other local dishes if you aren’t in the mood for the warm soup.

Known as the Queen of the Banh Mi, this place seems to always be busy. They offer a strong to-go business, but if you can grab a table inside. Remember in Vietnamese culture banh mi is traditionally eaten for breakfast (and maybe an early lunch). Try one with a strong coffee.

This coffee shop is a bit off the beaten path, but it feels like a sanctuary tucked down a busy road. They offer great iced coffees and juices. The owner speaks a little English and offers free Wi-Fi.

Shoutout Best Restaurant in Da Nang

I may or may not have eaten here 5 times in 4 days. They offer fresh, Western options when you just need a piece of home. I loved their smoothie bowls, eggs benedict and late-night poutines. It is a great place to meet other travelers and indulge in a little comfort food. I recognize this is not a Vietnamese specialty, but sometimes this American needed a little Western breakfast. Bonus! They have a location in Hoi An too.

Cooking Class

One of my favorite meals was my local cooking class in Hoi An. If you are looking for a great, low-cost option that included a basket boat, local market shopping and some traditional net fishing, I would strongly suggest this tour. If you are looking to enjoy something a bit more personal, I'd suggest joining Mr. Hoang's family for a different look at Vietnamese culture. During the tour, you will walk the family farm, ride bikes and buffalos, try your hand at rice-paper making and a cooking class and row a bamboo boat.

Hope you enjoy these restaurants in Hoi An (and Da Nang). Check out my favorite restaurants in Hanoi as well!
